Field research in Texán de Palomeque, Yucatán

In November and December of the past year, Fundación Andar did a field research in Texán de Palomeque in Yucatán with the intention to get to know the socio-economic structure of the community; to understand the social dynamics of the population and their traditions, and to identify their main needs, aspirations and fears.

In order to so, we did a series of studies, such as stakeholder mapping and socio-economic studies, which relied on tools like focus groups and semi-structured interviews.

The productive interests of the community were identified in these studies and, based on them, different productive projects were proposed that are to be implemented this year. The projects include a cooperative of apiarists, and an embroidering and sewing women enterprise.
