On the 24th of August, 2009, Fundación Andar and Comedor Santa Maria, AC, a not-for-profit trust devoted to setting up feeding facilities for the undernourished, inaugurated a dining facility for children in the Colonia Cilantro district of Mexico City’s Alvaro Obregón precinct. The said community is located in the Santa Fé gully area and has high levels of delinquency and drug addiction. The dining facility serves 200 children and youths between the ages of 1 and 16 every day. Fundación Andar paid half of the cost of construction and will pay half of the dining facility’s daily running costs. The aim is to provide around 240,000 meals a year.
